Pre Departure Information

Check-in

Check in from Puerto Maldonado 12:00 pm.

Check-out

Check out from the lodge: 9:00 am.

  • Groups entering at different flight schedules, the first group wait for the arrival of the next group with a maximum of 2 hours.

Flights:

  • We recomend to get flights for the first and last day between 11am. and 1pm. or let us know to choose the best according to our operation.

Water service

  • Water dispenser is available at the office and hotel to fill at any moment.

Meals

  • The first day we will have a box lunch on the boat, consists of a chinesse vegetarian rice wrapped in leaves “bijao” and small snack with brazil nuts and banana.

At the lodge:

  • Breakfast is buffet.
  • Lunch and dinner is a dish served

Land and boat transportation

  • Transportations are shared, unless is required as private service with an additional cost.
  • From the airport to the office in town is approximately 15 minutes.
  • From the office to the port is one hour.
  • From the port to the lodge is approximately 2 hours.

Groups:

The maximum number of people for groups are 12 guests, groups are shared, unless is required a private guide.

Baggage

  • We recomend one piece of baggage for the lodge.
  • Luggage will be hand-carried during the trip. For your convenience, you can store your larger luggage at our office in Puerto Maldonado, we provide duffle bags for this purpose.
  • The luggage miss on scheduled flights is beyond of our control, however, in the event that your luggage does not arrive, we’ll work with the airline to get it delivered to you as soon as possible.

WIFI

  • Wifi is available in the common areas of the lodge.  We recomend to use the connection for email and social network, it can be tough to upload photos or have a video call. Please note that our lodge do not have phone service.

Currency and payments at the lodge

  • The currency in Peru is soles, foreign currency can be exchanged at any of the commercial banks or authorized entities in the country.
  • In the lodge we accept payment for services such as bar, boutique, and massages by credit card only. You can use cash for gratuities.

Electricity and energy

  • Electrical power at the lodge is run by solar panels during 24 hours.
  • Note that 110V appliances will not work in Peru, our country has an electricity supply of 220 Volts.
  • Is important to have a good flashlight for the trails to the rooms and the night walks.

Time

  • Peru is always 5 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time
  • (UTC−05:00). Peru has only one time zone and does not observe daylight saving time.

Tipping

  • Tipping is not compulsory is volunteer. However, if you want to leave a token of your thanks, the following are guidelines:
  • Guide – US$5 – $10 per guest.
  • Lodge staff – US$5 per guest.

Travel Documents

  • All visitors to Peru must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond their intended departure date from Peru.

Security

  1. Please listen to the lodge staff and guides.
  2. Never walk on your own outside the lodge without a guide.
  3. Observe animals silently.
  4. Loud talking can frighten the animals away.
  5. Please respect your guide’s judgment about proximity to animals.
  6. Only smoke in the designated areas.
  7. Do not feed animals.

Climate

  • The general weather conditions are warm and humid. In Tambopata the average daytime high temperature is between 78°F and 93°F (24°C and 31°C) The average nighttime low is between 66F and 78°F (20°C and 24°C).
  • Cold Months – May through September Cold fronts from Argentina can sweep into southwestern Amazonia and push daytime highs down to 50°F (9°C) and the nighttime lows to 43°F (5°C). Thus, during that season always be potentially prepared for cold and drizzle.
  • Rainy Months – November through April Be prepared for heavy rain that can continue for hours or days. Around 80% of the annual average 3000 mm rainfall occurs during this season.

Health

  • Malaria and yellow fever is present but extremely rare. If you wish to take medical precautions consult your physician or a specialist in tropical medicine.
